This is the conclusion of meetings in the City of Lošinj with representatives of local committees, the head of Jadrolinija, David Sopt, and Paula Vidović from the Agency for Coastal Line Maritime Transport.
As a follow-up to the recent meeting held in Rijeka on the subject of the maritime connectivity of the island of Lošinj, a meeting was held in the town hall of the town of Mali Lošinj this week, where representatives of the City and the local committees of Susak and Unije met with the President of the Jadrolinija Management Board, David Sopt, and the Director of the Coastal Line Agency maritime transport by Paula Vidović and their associates.
The topics of the meeting were related to the maritime traffic of the mentioned islands on the state line 310 on the route Mali Lošinj – Unije – Vele Srakane – Susak and vice versa in the upcoming period.
On this occasion, the representatives of the shipping company Jadrolinija and the Agency informed all the participants about the planned activities in the coming period, primarily those related to the acquisition of a suitable new ship with a side ramp and a crane for faster and safer unloading of goods, which would have the possibility of transporting and cargo up to approximately 25 tons.
Refrigeration chambers for transporting frozen products for the supply of economic entities in Susak and Unije would be installed on the mentioned ship. Considering the necessary procedure and the public procurement procedure, the new ship is expected to start sailing on route 310 before the beginning of the next tourist season.
There was also talk about the possibility of transporting waste by new ships from the mentioned islands. Given that both islands have newly built ports, there was also talk of introducing a new ferry line, for which a procedure has been initiated according to the competent Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, considering that it is necessary to secure additional financial resources.
In conclusion, the meeting also discussed the harmonization of navigation schedules for 2023, which the City will, as every year, refer to all local committees (Susak, Unije, Ilovik) that are ports of call on the mentioned lines in order to give their consent or possible proposals for 2023.
