Brac island tourist report – Significant decline announced for September
An increasing number of countries are putting Croatia, and especially Central Dalmatia, on the red list. The good announcements of the post-season went into the “wind” overnight and a large part of the tourists have already left Dalmatia, although there are still guests. But August, at least until the last events, achieved unexpectedly good results both on the coast and on the islands.
A good tourist August on Brac island was also confirmed by Ivan Cvitanić, director of the Tourist Board of Supetar town:
We can be really satisfied with this year’s tourist season, that is, the part that happened. The middle of July and the whole of August were well filled, a little less than 80% of last year’s tourist traffic. On Friday, there were about 2,200 tourists in the area of the town of Supetar, but we will only know the real effect of the measures on tourist traffic brought by the surrounding countries in a few days. The announcements for September are still good, but the results will depend exclusively on the decisions of the countries from which the largest number of tourists come.
Cvitanić adds that in the first two weeks of August 10,402 tourist arrivals were registered in the area of Supetar which is 88% of the same period last year. There were 73,687 overnight stays, which is 80% of last year’s result.
In the period from 1st of January to 15th of August 2020, there were 26,414 tourist arrivals (44%) and 188,313 overnight stays, which is 47% compared to last year.
In the current part of the tourist season 2020, Supetar had the most domestic guests, followed by guests from Germany, Slovenia, Poland and Hungary.
Markito Marinković, director of the Tourist Board of Bol, revealed the tourist numbers for this part of Brac saying that in August they realized 110,000 overnight stays, which is about 62% of last year’s tourist results.
At the level of the whole year from the beginning of the year, from 1st of January by the end of August, there was 41% of last year’s turnover. He says that the best result was achieved by private accommodation, especially villas with a swimming pool.
We don’t know what will happen next. We are on the red list of Slovaks, Hungarians… The announcements are not encouraging. However, there are currently 1,800 guests in Bol. We are sorry that the announcements for the off-season were good, but recent events have changed everything. Europe is closing, not only towards us, but in general, they are protecting themselves, we can’t do anything about it.
Marinković
