Construction of water supply on all Zadar islands continues
The long-awaited construction of the water supply system for the Zadar islands is entering a new phase. Namely, the preparation of the remaining project-technical documentation is underway so that in the coming period the project can be prepared for application through European funds.
This was agreed at a meeting held in the Government building on St. Mark’s Square. The project would include the construction of a water supply network for the entire second ring of the Zadar islands, including Dugi Otok and Zverinac in the municipalities of Sali, Sestrunj and Rivanj, as well as all other islands that administratively belong to the City of Zadar.
This is just a continuation of the plan that all settlements in our county have drinking water. We have been working on this project for a long time in cooperation with Hrvatske vode and I can say that I am extremely looking forward to its realization. Our islands are our pearl, and I believe that it should not be emphasized that the construction of waterworks will contribute to the quality of life of all residents and their stay on the island, but also to the additional development of tourism.
Prefect Božidar Longin
Completion of the water supply project of the Zadar islands is a strategically important project for the City of Zadar.
We are one step closer to solving the most important project for our islanders. The construction of a water supply system and/or the establishment of a desalination plant brings a permanent and complete water supply for our seven islands from Iž to Premuda. We know very well how much effort and money we have been investing in the delivery of aquifer water, repairs and maintenance of local cisterns all these years in order to meet the basic water needs of the people on our islands. Although we have a big job ahead of us, I believe that all documentation will be completed within the planned deadline, and in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Croatia, these projects will be put into final function through the EU programming period 2021-2027.
Mayor Dukić
At the meeting in Zagreb, it was agreed that the main coordinator of the project will be Valentin Dujmović, Deputy General Manager of Hrvatske vode.
It should be emphasized that two years ago we agreed with the representatives of local self-government units to launch this and other projects and I especially thank the Zadar County Prefect Božidar Longin, who as a member of the Board of Hrvatske vode actively participated in all proceedings. ultimately projects and realized. It is an indicator that with the joint contribution of all parties we can contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of our citizens, which is our goal.
Dujmović
The preparation of project documentation will be financed by Hrvatske vode with funds from the European Recovery Fund, and the holder of the project for the construction of a water supply system to the Zadar islands will be Vodovod d.o.o. from Zadar. The meeting also determined a precise schedule of activities that should lead to the project being financed from the next programming period of the European Union from 2021 to 2027.
