Crikvenica port – Reconstruction works completed
All works on the project “Upgrading a port open to public traffic of county importance – the port of Crikvenica” have been officially completed, which is the largest investment in the port area managed by the Crikvenica County Port Authority and one of the largest investments in the maritime domain in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
As part of the most significant project since the founding of the County Port Authority of Crikvenica, 130 meters of the secondary breakwater and 50 meters of pier Mala Palada were built. This completely changes the view of the Crikvenica Riviera.
The completed buildings are paved with stone and equipped with reception devices for mooring boats, connection cabinets for electricity as well as water and fire hydrant. Also, the forehead of the secondary breakwater is adorned with a newly installed lighthouse.
Mario Kružić, director of the Crikvenica County Port Authority says he is extremely satisfied with the new look of Crikvenica port. He also used the opportunity to thank all the contractors who worked tirelessly on the project, but also all the citizens of Crikvenica for their support during the works.
With the soon completion of the project, all safety requirements for the smooth running of the county ferry line Crikvenica-Šilo (island of Krk) will be met. This is of great importance for the population of the island, knowing that it carries about 15 000 passengers a year. Furthermore, the inhabitants of the island of Krk will be provided with better access to medical and educational services and create preconditions for employment on land.
The project is almost entirely funded by the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020 within the specific goal – increasing the accessibility of inhabited islands for their inhabitants, and the funds of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure for the development of ports open to public transport.
The value of the project is almost 33 million kuna and the works are performed by the Association of Bidders consisting of Izgradnja d.o.o. from Crikvenica, BSK commerce d.o.o. from Rijeka and DSS crafts for the construction of hydraulic structures and underwater works from Crikvenica.
