Jadrolinija cancelled reservations on the Trpanj-Ploce ferry due to renovations
The Port Authority of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County confirmed the information from Jadrolinija that due to the works in the port of Peljesac, it is not possible to make a reservation for a vehicle on the ferry line Trpanj – Ploče.
Regional institutions state that works on the reconstruction and extension of the port in Trpanj are in progress. Due to the limited area, it is not possible to organize the waiting for boarding the ferry in such a way as to provide separate columns for vehicles that have a seat reservation and those that do not.
To ensure the boarding of vehicles with a reservation, it was necessary to separate passengers whose vehicles do not have a guaranteed place on deck and keep them in a very limited space, because they were boarding last.
All of the above had caused crowds and protests of drivers who did not have a reservation for a place on the ferry, and consequently a slowdown in boarding. Therefore, Jadrolinija was asked to cancel the possibility of booking on the ferry “Mljet” for departures from Trpanj. After the completion of the reconstruction of the port, a larger number of waiting places will be available, and then the possibility of re-introducing the mentioned reservation will be considered.
The county government points out the works on that part of Peljesac as one of the key port infrastructure projects and their completion is expected around September 15.
The value of the project is 16.5 million kuna, the money is fully secured and after the first two phases, it was announced that the remaining work will continue during the summer, without interfering with the tourist season.
