Jadrolinija presents Faros – the biggest ferry of its class
Faros is the biggest ferry of its class, and recently it started its journey from Split to Hvar Island. The ship was built in Greece in 2009, and with its characteristics it is a great complement to the Jadrolinija fleet. Thanks to its large garage capacity and spacious passenger lounge, Faros can transport up to 650 passengers and 170 vehicles. Therefore, the ferry will raise the quality of service, especially during summer season, when Hvar Island is visited by numerous tourists.
Faros is 105m long, 17.5m wide and can reach the speed of about 26 km/h. Ferry is primarily meant to serve on Split – Stari Grad route, but it can serve other ferry lines, as it satisfies sailing conditions to further islands.
Despite the challenges we’ve had in 2020, and the numerous pessimistic hints about the tourist season, the last couple of weeks have shown the upward trend of arrivals. Therefore, Faros will begin its sailing at the best possible moment. People of Hvar and their guests will now have better and faster connection to the mainland.
Jadrolinija
Jadrolinija management underlined that further development and fleet renewal are the company’s main objectives. Faros is the second new ferry presented by Jadrolinija in 2020.
Including the modern-equipped Faros ferry, Jadrolinija’s fleet now counts 54 boats, which can transport more than 4000 vehicles and 30.000 passengers. These numbers, along with the fleet renewal, are extremely important, considering that Jadrolina transports more than 12 million passengers and 3 million vehicles each year. Therefore, regular investment in improvement of service is especially important.

I am disabled and are in a wheelchair. I plan to visit Croatia (Hvar) and would like to know if the ferry Faros is friendly for disabled. Does it have a lift to the salon?
Dear Dinko,
Based on the information we have, yes, Faros has the lift that can get you to the salon. There were some problems with the lift previous summer, but we believe those are fixed in the meantime.
If you want to be 100% sure, you can always contact Jadrolinija for the latest info.
Best regards,
