Sailboats and small cruisers saved the season in Rijeka
The post-season in the port of Rijeka is surprisingly extended. Namely, in the first 9 months of this year, Rijeka port recorded almost 50% more passengers from sailing ships than in the same period last year. The last guests from Rijeka left on the penultimate weekend in October.
Although this year’s pre-season sort of failed, everything was made up for in the post-season and judging by the information from some travel and cruise agencies, bookings for next season have already started.
Regarding cruise ships, Rijeka port welcomed about 31,500 passengers from the cruisers according to the Port Authority data for 2019.
The announcements for 2020 predicted twice as many arrivals, considering the announcements of as many as 40 cruise ships. As a result of the global crisis caused by the pandemic, all ship arrivals were cancelled last year, as in the first nine months of this year.
The first arrival of the large ship “Eurodam” with 903 passengers by the Holland America Line company was recorded on October 3, i.e. the end of the tourist season.
