Krk Island, tourism results for the first 11 months of 2020
In the first eleven months of 2020 on Krk island, there were 49 percent of arrivals and 53 percent of overnight stays, when compared to the same period last year. In November of this year, a total of 1459 arrivals and 6673 stays were recorded. That is a decrease of 41.46 percent and 32.96 percent, respectively.
Domestic guests accounted for 55,72 percent of total arrivals in those 11 months, and 42,01 percent of total stays. Foreign guests accounted for 44,28 and 57,99 percent, respectively. In November alone, there were 6 percent of domestic guests less than in 2019. Majority of foreing visitors to Krk island were from Germany, Czech Republic and Bosnia and Herzegovina. On average, guests stayed 4,5 days on the island.
In the span of the 11 months, domestic guests spend an average of 4,3 days on the island, as compared to 6,07 by international tourists. Krk island has a total of 59.798 registered rooms (beds) and 5878 additional beds. That is a decrease of 46,43 percent. Even though it’s hard to compare all of these numbers with 2019, it’s important to note that 2020 was a successful season, when taking the COVID-19 pandemic into account.
The best results were recorded in private accommodations (59,34 percent), camps (29,95 percent) and hotels (10,50 percent). Germans stay on the island the longest, followed by Slovenians, Croatians, Austrians and Polish people. All of them have increased the average number of days on the island, when compared to 2019.
