Lopud island – The project of installing solar public lighting
On the island of Lopud, the middle of the three Elaphiti islands near Dubrovnik, a project was carried out to procure and install energy-efficient solar public lighting. Solar street lamps were installed and the public lighting network was extended by 900 meters.
In the streets Od Šunja and Od Polja, which connect vertically to the Ivo Kuljevan Coast, the public lighting network has been extended by a total of 900 meters, and 31 public lighting poles with solar street lamps have been installed along this stretch.
The value of the works is HRK 357,345.00 including VAT (~€47.4 thousand), of which HRK 173 thousand (~€23 thousand) was co-financed by the Ministry of Regional Development and European Union funds through the project: “Procurement and implementation of energy-efficient public lighting on the island of Lopud according to the Island Development Program in 2022”.
Apparently, Dubrovnik is developing in a sustainable direction through the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable sources projects. With this goal in mind, a complete reconstruction and modernization of the public lighting system of the City of Dubrovnik are being carried out. It includes the installation of almost four thousand new, energy-efficient lighting fixtures. In addition to financial savings, this will contribute to environmental protection and increase the energy efficiency of the public lighting system.
