The largest increase in overnight stays of 59% was recorded for guests from Germany (share of 19.7%) and Austria (share of 8.6%), an increase of 51.6% is the result of the promotional campaign of Lošinj in the German media where the advantage of Lošinj as an island destination was emphasized. This is followed by guests from Italy who achieved a share of 3.9% while other countries participate with 14.6%.
There was a significant visit of domestic guests in this period with a share of 21.4% in the total tourist visit and an increase of 50.6% in overnight stays and 65.7% in arrivals.
In June, the tourist turnover was recorded at 208,334 overnight stays and 32,031 arrivals, which represents a 35.5% increase in overnight stays and 28% more arrivals.
This achievement is the result of the promotion of key attributes of the image of Lošinj island, pleasant climate, rich natural diversity and beauty as well as the efforts and activities of all stakeholders in the destination. In particular, the marketing campaign on the leading German portals (T-online.de and web.de) called “Natur, die Heilt” (Nature that heals) was geotargeted in the two German states of Bayern and Baden Württemberg and achieved more than 2,300,000 views.
We are pleased that guests have recognized all the advantages of Lošinj as an island of vitality and in choosing accommodation the most popular segments are camps and private accommodation that provide guests with additional security and isolation. We work on guest safety, and we have provided a location for rapid antigen testing without notice and with the possibility of non-cash payment and a subsidized test price of 100 kn. Currently, 12,000 guests are staying on Lošinj, which is an index of 77 compared to 2019. I believe that with a good epidemiological situation we can expect a successful continuation of the tourist year.
