Losinj Island – Tourism numbers for the first half of August

Tourist board of Losinj Island announced the official numbers for the first half of August. In the first fifteen days, a total of 295.358 overnight stays and 32.453 arrivals were recorded in the Losinj island area. These numbers are the equivalent of 73.5% of last year’s overnight stays and 70.8% of last year’s arrivals.

To better illustrate the numbers, on the day of August 10th, there were a total of 20.141 guests on Losinj Island (75 % of the last year), while on August 15th there were 18.178 guests (65% of the last year’s numbers). It’s notable to point out that stricter measures were implemented for Italian tourists – they had to go to 14-day self-isolation upon arrival in their country.

As for the accommodation types – the most overnight stays was recorded in campsites (97.587, 64.6% of the last year), followed by private accommodation (68.708 – 85.1%), other accommodation units (34.293 – 81%) and hotels (25.187 – 47.8%). In non-commercial structures (lodges), there were 69.583 overnight stays, a 92.% mark compared to 2019.

If we’re to look at nationalities, the largest share of stays was made by: Slovenia (33.3%), Croatia (18.9%), Germany (17.4%), Italy (11.5%), Austria (5.5%), Czech Republic (2.7%), Poland (2.3%), Hungary (1.3%) and others (7.1%).
