Mljet Island – Discounts for visitors of Mljet National Park
Mljet National Park is celebrating its 60th birthday by hosting Open Days, from Friday 18th September to Sunday 27th September. During that time, visitors will be able to buy tickets for promotional prices of 50 Kunas for adults and 30 Kunas for children and students. Additionally, when buying the tickets online, those prices go down to 40 Kunas and 20 Kunas, respectively. Children under 7 still have free admission.
In the ticket are included: a boat ride, a visit to St. Mary Island in the heart of Veliko Jezero and an electric train ride. Besides cheaper tickets, additional educational and recreational guides will be provided, to ensure a complete experience of all natural beauties of the oldest Croatian national park. Because of the COVID-19, all visitors must wear masks in closed areas, as well as on the boat and train, to ensure the safety of everyone involved.
In other news, an environmental action took place in Mljet recently. As a part of the Clean Croatia initiative, over 100 car wrecks were taken off the island. Initiative is started by Renault, in partnership with Zelena stopa association and CIOS company. In total, initiative has removed over 16.000 wrecks of all Croatian islands. Cars have been collected from the areas of Mljet National Park, as well as from other impassable island parts. Mljet town mayor stated this could be one of the last initiatives to take place on the island, which is a good sign. The action lasted for 4 days, after which the wrecks were shipped on the mainland via Jadrolinija ferries. Also, no car wrecks were found on the 45 kilometer hiking path on Mljet Island.
