Osor Time Machine project wins the annual Simply the Best prize
“Osor Time Machine”, a project by Mali Lošinj’s Tourist Board, is this year’s winner of the national “Simply the Best” prize. The prize is traditionally awarded by UHPA (Association of Croatian travel agencies) and travel magazine The Way to Croatia.
It won in the category “New tourism projects”, thanks to its innovativeness, creativity and development of Mali Lošinj’s tourist offer.
Osor Time Machine is a reconstruction of possible situations and spaces based on archeological findings with the use of VR technology. Lošinj’s City museum and Conoko company have created content for eleven different stories and open locations. The goal is to present Osor of the past – from antiquity to modern times.
While walking through Osor with some help from VR and real reality, the user is learning about Osor’s exciting history and enjoying the landscape.
The user is also introduced to Saint Gaudencio (patron saint of Osor), christening rituals from the Middle Ages and life in the Roman ages. Comics will show him the legend of the Argonauts and see the Apoksiomen statues etched right above the city canal.
Our goal is to valorize the cultural heritage of Osor, create added value and provide some good time to our visitors with the use of the latest technology – said Dalibor Cvitković, president of Mali Lošinj’s Tourist board.
