Pasman connected to mainland and Mljet gets solar catamarans
One of the most important projects for the island of Pasman is a bridge connecting Pasman to the mainland for which the Municipality of Pasman in September last year received support from the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, as Otoci.eu confirms.
A feasibility study for the Pašman – mainland bridge will be completed by the end of May and it is developing two conceptual solutions for connecting the island with the mainland via the Pašman Channel.
On the mainland, the bridge will be connected by the state road D8 with the future bypass Zadar – Pakoštane, and on the shore of the Pašman Channel, the route exits at the position of Cape Tukljača.
From the mainland, the route goes to the islet of Ričul, about 400 m from the coast and continues towards the island of Pašman, crossing the Pašman Channel in the length of about 1400 m. On the island of Pašman, the bridge connects with the main road of the islands of Pašman and Ugljan.
Solar catamarans for touring the National Park Mljet
The first solar catamaran of three in the fleet for sailing on the lakes of Mljet arrived in 2018 and at the beginning of 2020, all three were put into the function of transporting visitors.
These are catamarans primarily intended for navigation in protected waters, where the electric drive creates a new sailing experience. The only noise and vibration is created by wind and waves. Due to its design, the solar catamaran provides all passengers with excellent visibility to see all the sights of the Mljet National Park.
This replaced the existing diesel-powered ships with new, economical and energy-efficient vessels. It is certainly worth mentioning that this is a Croatian product from iCat.
NP Mljet can be visited from Dubrovnik by catamaran TP line – Nona Ana, ferry Jadrolinija from the port Prapratno on Peljesac or catamaran Krilo – Kapetan Luka from the direction of Split.
