Peljesac developing new products for extending the tourist season

Tourist boards from the Pelješac peninsula have joined forces on a project to develop outdoor and eno-gastro products. All four tourist boards – Janjina, Trpanj, Ston and Orebic – signed an association on this project at the end of last year. An operational plan was made in cooperation with the company Feel IQM, which was accepted by the tourist councils and the project is underway.

The aim of this project is to extend preseason and postseason through networking of various stakeholders and stimulating economic development. Outdoor and eno-gastro offer is constantly growing globally and further growth is expected. The product is intended for guests who stay longer on Pelješac and guests who during their stay they want an authentic experience inspired by rich gastronomy, wine tradition and outdoor activities. The project also targets one-day visitors who want a special tourist experience.

Theme months on Peljesac Peninsula

The themed months will run from March to December. In the eno-gastro segment, products have been designed on the theme of Mali Ston oysters, Ston salt, Pelješac flavours, winemakers and captains. The goal of each product is to include the economy of the entire Peljesac peninsula so that segments of each product will be experienced throughout the year, telling the story of the peculiarities and richness of Peljesac. In special theme months, a certain topic will be promoted more strongly, and for example, the story of Pelješac winemakers or Ston salt will be specially promoted in restaurants, wineries, will also be included in tourist packages of agencies and promoted in hotels, camps and other accommodation facilities. Tourist products will be developed in the long run, the design of events and itineraries for guests for the eno-gastro product is in progress.

Development of outdoor activities

At the same time, the team is working on the development of outdoor activities. The first phase is the design of hiking and mountain biking trails, a digital recording (GPS track) of the same is done, followed by work on trail marking, mapping and promotion. Peljesac has exceptional potential for the development of an eno-gastronomic offer. It is recognized for winemaking, traditional restaurants and taverns, it is full of hiking and forest roads, wine roads, and through almost the entire peninsula passes Napoleon’s road in the length of 61 km, which makes it an excellent place for hiking, mountaineering and mountain biking.

Imagine staying outdoors in untouched nature, diverse vegetation, on a tour of rustic places where you can taste local specialities under the baking lid and enjoy the unique taste of Plavac mali wine. Imagine an ideal place to escape from stress and hectic everyday life – imagine Peljesac.
