Rab Island – Tourists get 50% discount for COVID-19 testing
The 2020 summer season is one of the most uncertain in recent memory. Cooperation from everyone involved is necessary, as is responsibility and taking all precautions. Despite the pandemic, Rab Town managed to achieve 65% of overnight stays compared to 2019. That alone can be considered as a success. Since the postseason is expected to be even harsher, Rab Island decided to give a discount on COVID-19 testing, for those tourists who need it.
In cooperation with Primorsko-Goranska county, Rab Town and Rab Town Tourist Board will pay for 50% of the PCR test for all tourists staying in accommodation units in Rab Town. This is the first initiative of this kind in Croatia. Therefore, the price of testing will be 46€, which is an extremely favorable number, as the test is one of the most reliable out there.
The discount is valid for:
- All tourists which need a PCR test to get back to their country of origin
- All tourists which are staying in private accommodation
- All arrivals in September and October 2020 (from September 1st to October 31st)
- All tourists staying for at least 7 consecutive days at Rab Town area
- All reservations for September and October, regardless of the time the reservation was made
Before taking a test, a guest needs to present an eVisitor confirmation about their reservation. Confirmation can be printed from the eVisitor system, or given by the Rab Tourist Board. Testing can be done via drive-in, at the Rab Town Health Center, every week-day from 8 to 11h.
Indications for the 2020 season were modest, but we managed to overachieve them. Rab Town presented itself as a safe destination. This way we want to show that the summer season can continue. Price of the COVID-19 test is high for some tourists, so we believe this discount would help them a lot.

Rab Town mayor called all businesses and ferry companies to join the action, so that the season can continue into September and October. Moreover, Rab Town ambulance will continue its work until September 15th. These measures just show how much Rab Island is dependent on tourism.
