Rab will be the first in Croatia to have a system for smart management of small ports!
RAB – The port of Rab will be the first digital smart port in Croatia by the end of the year. 85 percent of the HRK 1 million project was co-financed with non-reimbursable European money and the rest from the county budget. The introduction of video surveillance technology will increase the safety of vessels at communal moorings.
– The agreement on cooperation in the implementation of the “Framesport” project was signed at the headquarters of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County by Prefect Zlatko Komadina and Director of the Rab County Port Authority, Nenad Debelić, reports HRT Radio Rijeka. With the signing of the cooperation agreement, the project of implementing the smart management system of the port of Rab was given the green light.
– 24 cameras are installed in the communal area and record all connections. The system has been taught to recognize whether there is a vessel on that berth or not, says Dean Ukota, representative of the contractor, for HRT.
Such a system will inform the boat owner of all information, including those in the case of strong winds and storms that often hit the island.
– This is a project with which we will try to better monitor movement in the port itself, especially in the communal part of the port, but also on the operational part of the coast, where we will have real-time data on when a ship is present in the port and whether it is on its own place, pointed out Nenad Debelić, director of the Rab County Port Authority.
For the port administration, this means more successful operations and the provision of better service to visitors of Rab island.
– Another successful project that we applied for funds from the European Union, namely cross-border cooperation with Italy, where we secured 85 percent of grants, said Zlatko Komadina, Prefect of Primorsko-Goranje.
About ten days ago, the works on the reconstruction of the city port of Rab started, which will last until the end of next year. They will, among other things, enable the docking of catamarans and a larger number of vessels and prevent flooding of the waterfront and the old town due to strong southerly winds.
– The value of the project is HRK 38 million secured from the operational program of competitiveness and cohesion of connecting the islands. The project includes the construction of a 42-meter-long secondary breakwater that will protect the port from the wind and the influence of the south, and 400 meters of coastal reconstruction, says Debelić.
A construction permit is also ready for the construction of three communal wharves in the port, which would provide another 100 new communal berths.
The value of the system that will be installed by the “Tri M” company is HRK 934 thousand, 85% of the funds are co-financed by the EU, and the other 15% by the County.
