Rad island – Tourist traffic data almost 50% higher than last year
Even before the official start, summer was really felt on Rab island. Ferries connected the mainland and the island even off the timetable, the terraces of cafes and restaurants are getting fuller, there are a lot of foreign registration plates in traffic – all this clearly shows that the number of tourists is still growing.
On June 20, 2021 (Sunday), there were 853 arrivals or 67% compared to the same day in 2020, so there is a smaller delay in arrivals per day, but regarding overnight stays, there were 4,670 or 12% more than last year. In the period from 1 to 20 June 2021, there were 9,904 arrivals, or 57% more than last year. There were 51,988 overnight stays or 51% more than last year.
To sum it up, from the beginning of the year to June 20 there were 15,152 arrivals or 95% more than last year in the same period, while 79,608 overnight stays were realized or 67% more than last year.
The Germans continue to be the leading nation visiting us
In the first 20 days of June, Germans, Croats, Austrians, Slovenes and Czechs rested the most in the area of the town of Rab. For the same period, most tourists stay in family accommodation, 50% of them, followed by 20% in camps, 15% in hotels, 9% in non-commercial accommodation and 6% in other accommodation facilities.
What can be especially gratifying is the further gradual approach to the figures from 2019, a record year. Namely, comparing the first twenty days of 2021 and 2019, this year recorded a realization of 55% in arrivals and 48% in overnight stays.
Lopar records an increase in traffic of more than 30%
According to the data obtained from the Tourist Board of the Lopar Municipality, 2,690 tourists were in Lopar on a national holiday, which is 32% more than on the same day last year when there were 2,034 of them.
During the first 20 days of June, there were 26,127 overnight stays or 42% more than in 18,341 in the same period last year, while in the period from 1 January to 20 June 2021 there were 35,364 overnight stays or 75% more than in 20,173 in the same period. Although this is almost twice as much as last year’s result, the figures are still far from the brilliant 2019, when 98,667 tourist overnight stays were realized in the same period.
