Sesula Bay on Solta Island to get 70 new boat berths
Despite Coronavirus pandemic, Maslinica town on Solta island is preparing the grounds for a new marina in Sesula bay. Planning is underway, as seen by the announcement of the new public competition for building the marina. Candidates have to deliver the offers in the next 30 days.
One of the candidates is already known, which is a boutique hotel owner from Maslinica, which would benefit from the new marina due to the close proximity of the hotel. Maslinica currently has 55 berths at disposal, and these 70 new ones would definitely expand the capacities for nautical tourism on Solta island. The new marina will be suitable for large yachts (up to 25 meters long). Sewer network is also planned to be built, along with other needed infrastructure.
Berths should be available for use in the next two years, thereby expanding the tourism offer in the western part of Solta. With this new investment, the island will become a representative of high-end tourism on Croatian islands. The intent is to increase the nautical tourism capacities, especially since guests in this type of tourism spent more money than in other types, almost 2.5 times more than the average.
Along with the new marina, additional facilities will be added, such as caffe bars and restaurants. Two restaurants are already in the bay, with two more to be built. Maslinica municipality will ensure the water and electricity supply. The whole project will create new job opportunities for locals, which is always a priority when living on the island. Additionally, a new promenade will be added to the bay, therefore connecting all relevant facilities in the bay.
