If you are traveling with car you can also take the ferry route Drvenik – Sućuraj, if you are foot passenger you have catamaran from Split to Hvar town and from Split to Jelsa as well as catamaran connections to Hvar from Korcula, Dubrovnik and a few other places.
Yes it is quite easy, public buses are waiting when the ferry arrives, travel time to Hvar town is about 25 minutes, taxis are other options, but they are relatively expensive.

It often happens that people travelling by, car or bus get a bit confused about how to calculate the price, so here are a few examples
Car with passengers
If you are e.g. 3 adults and a regular car going on the ferry, the price calculations for one-way tickets are the following, car (Less than 5 meters in length, and two meters in height) = 45,77 € + 3 adults (3 * 8,10 = 24,3 €, so in total, your price will be 70,07 €. As there is no discount for return tickets the round trip price will be 140,14 € or roughly 46,71 € per person.
Bus with passengers
For a bus the way of calculating is different, if you have a bus with space for 30 people and 22 passengers, the price is 189,13 €, which includes the bus and the passengers!
