The construction of the port of Omis begins in mid-September
The construction of the city port will begin in Omis in mid-September, a project worth 87 million kuna. The works will last about three and a half years, it was announced after the signing of the contract on that project.
The project of the port of Omiš integrates the construction of the primary breakwater, protection of the waters, a new promenade and a new traffic solution for that part of the city. As the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković pointed out on that occasion, the port of Omiš is one of the largest sea infrastructure projects in the Croatian part of the Adriatic. It will be co-financed 85% with EU funds.
Omiš should get almost 8000 square meters of the new coastal zone and horticultural waterfront. It will also get 70 nautical berths and a part of the coast will be arranged for about 60 boats of the local population.
The contract for the execution of works on the project of arranging the port of Omiš was signed by the director of the Port Authority of the Split-Dalmatia County Domagoj Maroević and the director of the company Texo Molior Antonio Deranja. Maroević pointed out that this is a demanding project which will give Omiš a new promenade and a new urban identity, while Omiš Mayor Ivo Tomasovic stressed the importance of the project because the port of Omiš will change the complete view, as it will enable boat connections between Omiš and islands.
During the signing of the contract, the construction of the ports of Stomorska on Šolta and Bol on Brač was announced soon as well as the road traffic Solin – Split – Omiš, where traffic congestion is created during the summer months and which will be one of Croatia’s main projects in the new EU financial perspective.
