The investment to increase the capacity of the LNG terminal on Krk has justified all expectations
After the annual vacation, the government made a strategic decision to increase the capacity of the LNG terminal on the island of Krk. The director of LNG, Hrvoje Krhen, said that the investment justified all expectations.
– This week, the 48th cargo arrived since the terminal began operating. So far, we have received about 6,300,000 cubic meters of LNG and delivered about 3,800,000,000 cubic meters of natural gas into the system, which makes us the largest individual input into the system – said Krhen, pointing out that the investment justified all expectations.
The visit of Prime Minister Andrej Plenković with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer and Prime Minister of the Federal State of Bavaria Markus Söder shows that LNG is not only for Croatia’s energy security but also for the region.
The capacities that we offer on the market are 2 billion 900 million cubic meters on an annual basis and these capacities are filled until 2030 – said Krhen, adding that they receive requests for new capacities every day.
– We will release part of the capacity on the market when the increase, technological modification of the ship is made in the next two years when we will be able to deliver up to 6.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas – he said.
We are currently at a little less than three billion cubic meters of natural gas. The director of LNG said that we meet all our domestic needs.
– With domestic production and storage capacities, we certainly meet domestic needs. As an operator, we deliver gas to the transport system, and it is further distributed through the transport and distribution system to end customers, but most of the gas remains on the Croatian market – Krhen pointed out for HRT.
