Up to 90 per cent of the traffic from 2019 is expected in Bol

The Mayor of Bol, Katarina Marčić, recently reported that a session of the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Bol was held in Bol on the island Brač, and a session of the Assembly of the Tourist Board was held.

According to Mayor Marčić, the director of the Bol Tourist Board, Markito Marinković, said that about 428,000 overnight stays and 73,000 arrivals had been made this year, which is about 68 per cent of the tourist traffic in 2019.

Next year, up to 90 per cent of the traffic from 2019 is expected in Bol

– For 2022, the expected tourist traffic is planned at the level of 90 per cent from 2019, said Marčić.

She also emphasized that the article of the Law on Tourist Boards and the Promotion of Croatian Tourism comes into force on 1 January, which obliges Tourist Boards to announce a competition for directors for a 4-year term within 6 months.

As of January 1, tourist boards are to announce competitions for directors

It should be emphasized that so far the directors of the offices of tourist boards have not passed re-elections or tenders have been announced. Most of these positions were confirmed by the heads of local self-government units. Once appointed, the directors of the offices of the tourist boards did not change, and in these positions, they had a secured salary all year round, despite the short tourist season in certain places.

Directors responsible to the Tourist Board and the President of the Tourist Board

From 1 January, the directors of tourist offices will be appointed by the tourist council based on a public tender, for 4 years, following the provisions of the said Act. The director of the tourist board office will be responsible for his work to the tourist council and the president of the tourist board. According to the letter of the law, the duty of the president of the tourist board will be performed by the mayor, and in the counties by the county prefect. Therefore, even after the implementation of the provisions of the law on re-election, ie announcing tenders for directors of tourist boards, the position of that person will significantly depend on the heads of local governments, ie the holders of executive power in municipalities and cities.
